RealTracks Artist Bio: Mike Moreno

Jazz guitarist Mike Moreno was born and raised in Houston, Texas, where he studied music at the Houston High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, a school renowned for it's distinguish musical alumni. After graduating, Mike attended the New School University on a scholarship. The experience at both of these schools set the stage for a prolific carreer, and he has since moved on to perform and record with the likes of The Joshua Redman Elastic Band, Me'Shell N'Degeocello, Jason Moran, Terence Blanchard, Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz At Lincoln Center Orchestra, Kenny Garret, John Ellis, and many more. Several recordings that he was a part of were nominated for Grammy awards, including Geoffrey Keezzer's "Aurea"as well as Eldar's "Re-Imagination".

This impressive career, which is only just starting, has led to Mike being recognized as one of the most important figures in the new generation of Jazz guitarists. Mike has also toured extensively and recorded as a leader of his own band. His own original music has been received with critical acclaim.
